Trying something so I moved this comment down from the quote:

    “And most importantly:
Where do you guys get all the cool graphics?”

Sorry Neil that’s top secret tournament fighter stuff. We could tell you but if you ever posted any we would have to show up talk some smack and wrestle you for the belt. I’ve already painted your name on the bottom of a steel chair just because you dared ask.

Are you looking for the beating of your life? or are you just fucking stupid?

[quote:vmih1gqa]I don’t know who “Mike” is, why would I want to wipe the floor with anyone, even if I could, and here we go again about taking people belts… ???[/quote:vmih1gqa]Mike is the guy I gave a belt to at the tournament. However now your claiming it’s a Gracie picked BB that you were refering too.

Don’t bother comming to the tournament, just wait around sooner of later some guy is going to show up to prove to you he’s not a glitzy freak show with a studded belt. He may be keen to show you how much he knows about breaking you down. Good luck. Then again maybe they will never hear you running your mouth and your safe, then again maybe not.

Chris, Mike is one of my former students.

He came to me via Bridgewater NS as a green belt.

After training with me for three years I thought he was ready for a brown belt.

I wasn’t sure if his sparring was up to snuff but after placing 2nd in the tournament and facing nothing but 2nd and 3rd dan competion I decided he was up to snuff.

I tossed him a brown belt at the end of the tournament and told him to start wearing it.

If your ever back in Van look him up he’s a good lad and has a realities based look at the world. I’ll PM you his address.

Chris you are hooked up with some fine folks. We did a seminar with Jason St Louis a purple belt from this group. Think he’s in Vernon these days he moves around a lot and has taught all over Western Canada. Interesting guy will fight in about any venue with no notice.
    http://fcfighter.brinkster.net/fighter. … terID=9421

Really skilled and like all of the Franco Behring folks a super guy!

We also did a seminar with Justin Bruckman a BB also from this group.

    http://www.bruckmannmartialarts.com/

This guy is hugely skilled and a straight shooter.

We started a club with a purple belt teaching Geoff Herdman also from this group. He lives in Calgary but travelled to Banff to work with us. Franco Behring people rock! And you are correct a purple belt is really skilled.

Another guy to look for down your way is Antonio Carvahlo think he’s in with Bruckman in Oshawa another really skilled BB.

These guys are the real deal, your in BJJ heaven!

Silvo Behring comes to Canada once or twice a year and does the seminar thing. He’s like one of the top people in the world teaching.

    Here’s some history;

Neil I’ve been tempted to turn on the Lawrence Welk bubble machine more than once when I’ve perform a particularly poor kata .

When I perform kata I explore how my body moves, I cut past some of the crap I’ve been offered and attempt to find more applications for the moves. Just can’t buy into the sword jumping BS.

When folks compete MMA or just plain stand up they also cut past the BS. They learn things about their skills with each trial and they take those answers back to their training and make adjustments. It’s a great reality check.

Now when I watch boxing , MMA , hell even point fighting tournaments, I focus on the skills of the fighters, the strategies employed to prevail. I love to see a fighter make midcourse adjustments to improve the outcome.

I don’ t have any issues with any tradition or marketing BS that might be part of the event. Folks have their customs and are welcome to them. Promoters and businessmen have a right to earn a living, so do fighters. So Dana White can have as many pretty lights and flashy things as he wants. It must make money as he has the largest pay for views in history. Maybe he knows more about salesmanship than we do Neil.

Bottom line is when the music is turned off the lights come up and the storylines are abandonded, there is some exceptional displays of skill in the ring.

Comparing the awarding of a couple of brown belts at the end of a Uechi tourney to the freak show that is Dana White marketing is just plain rude pal.

I think you friggin out of line. You’ve been insulting to the teachers who choose to award them and you’ve been insulting to the students who earned them. You don’t think they earned em, come and take them!

Mike is talking about flying in from Vancouver, why don’t you hop a plane and show up in May. You wipe the floor with him I’ll let you take his belt from him to do with as you choose. Other wise Shut the fuk up!

You seem to be surprised that MMA guys are actually friends. Guess you bought into all that glitzy marketing with the childish story lines. Didn’t think anyone bought that schit!

Yeah it’s pretty much normal for folks who fight each other in the ring to have huge respect for each other. How can you not have respect for a man once he’s shown you his back bone! Once you have that measure of a man you know him on a very personal level how could you not be friends?

The guys at the event where the belts got awarded can’t wait to see one another again! The comaradery is huge! But that’s not going to stop any of them from going as hard as they can and beating hell out of each other. Christ they have nothing but respect for each other it would be insulting to show up and offer them your b game. These guys can’t wait to see how far their friends have developed in the last year, and neither can I!

Chris really like your approach! Sorry to Hijack your thread, just some housekeeping issues, back to the regular thread testing.

Ohh yeah and in the future to save bandwidth lets just call him the GSMM because everyone is always offering him more stripes and the Daddio Sama was just a chick thing we overheard a the vendors.<img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/" alt=";)” title=”Wink” /> I figure we could call him the GSMM or DS but not both.

Thread is about grading is it not?

So how come we got Shodan and up who don’t have a clue how to win a pillow fight, and more senor folks who could learn a thing or too from them? Is it a testing issue or a teaching/system issue?

Neil gets all passionate about what a BB means and how it’s not a sporting title to be won and lost. He’s right

… it’s a hell of a lot less than that!

What mine Neil, send me you mailing address and I’ll send it too you, I’m disgusted to be put in the same box as many of the folks who have one.

It has no religious connotations and it sure as hell doesn’t signify any skills in personal protection in many cases.

And if a standard does not required any maintenance it’s nothing at all is it?
It’s more in the realm of you had a hard on once so we will call you a man.:bounce::bounce::bounce:

I’m sorry it’s a martial art, should it not at a minimum have some fighting skills involved? That’s all I’ve been saying.

I’m disgusted if my insistence of some level of fighting skill actually caused some controversy. Christ if you can’t get it up, you can’t get it up….but if you never could Suzie…then you were never a Man. If you could never fight well Suzie..then your a dance queen. Not a balck belt not a martial artist, a dance queen!

You know what else disgusts me… folks who do the real martial arts who are so friggin deadly that they never could dummy things down for a mere sporting event.

Most of them turn out to be knee knocking cowards, and they take every oppourtunity to piss on folks who toe the line.

Hell I’ve even seen masters forbid their students to enter the ring, once their schools did poorly testing became unworthy of them. Spineless folks abound, hell they are even in the arts.

I don’t wear belts or gi’s any longer…well except at special events because they add nothing and have nothing to do with skill development. I am considering no belts until the first test and then no belts after. Put it on the mantle piece and get to work.

Not schitting on those who do like to dress asian! Hell I’m happy to train with anyone who want’s to train. Fishnet stocking would be fine with me. whats not foen with me is new age warriors who schit on folks for entering the ring.

Sorry to evolve your thread Chris. Goodluck on the testing, and good on you for stepping out of the box and exploring.

I am considering no belts until the first test and then no belts after. Put it on the mantle piece and get to work.

Now every time I start one of these rants every body gets the idea I’m some sort of sports dojo a fighting sparring competion focused guy. Hell is that off the mark!

Yeah my students have some skills in that area but we hardly ever spar and we do one event per year. We tend to train what we train, it just stacks up well in the full contact venue. But we are not a sports group. The dojo’s exploration is self defense the tool is Uechi but we have no range limitations. So we take our Uechi to all ranges. We live in the clinch but we develop uechi skills at all ranges.

We also are not a Uechi only training group, we train Uechi, boxing, ground work and gun and knife. Not too interested in the fanasy shcit like snatching a 45 out of someones hands or the blade disarms, yes I explore it and teach it. But I’d rather teach someone how to strike with an impact weapon , open someone with an edged weapon or how to hit the center of mass with a double tap. Yes I introduce my students to weapons training.

I can not relate to martia artists who have never been violent with anything except their own weenies.

I’m not a tough guy, actually I’m a gentle soul, but I’m sick of all this non combative combatives. It’s time someone said something. I think it’s time the “artists” had the decency to go stroke themselves in private! These public displays of testosterone deficiencies are giving the arts a bad mane!
