Hello Everyone,
I’m thrilled to discover a Canadian-based forum!
Thanks to all those who have made this possible.
Quick notes about me:I’ve played with several styles and am currently up for Shodan in Shorin-Ryu, but my heart rests with Uechi. I rated Nidan in 1996 (I’m a student of David Mott), and after about six years out of training (getting my life in order) I’m happy to report that I am training vigorously again. I return to David’s Dojo about twice/month and visit others as often as I can – it can be a great and welcoming community.
The Shorin-Ryu Dojo allows me to teach a three hour class on Sunday mornings: London is strangely isolated and I’m trying really hard to create a group of kareteka I can train with! I also train occasionally with a small group who study ‘Golden Eagle Claw’. They’re led by a fellow with a lot of full contact experience (I’m told he was a Vietnamese National Champion). They’re good fighters and tough and their style has many similarities, but it’s not Uechi.
Anyway, I hope I am able to contribute something of value to this forum. I certainly respect the spirit in which I believe it was formed.
Many thanks,
Chris McKaskell
