Hi Brenna Back at work so just looked and still can’t load ,but for me thats my one and only problem .
max ainleySpectatorIts a bit quieter in the town over the last few years ,apart from a murder last year outside the post office ,five organised men jumped a man late evening with baseball bats ,he died on the way to hospital .all the men are now serving time after the trial etc.
It goes to show violence does not always come just throwing punches etc.max ainleySpectatorHi Rick, observing change in patterns ,sometimes they seem to creep very slowly upon us ,and before you become conscious in a seeing were things can lead it’s upon us in no uncertain terms .
max ainleySpectatorOn the other hand ,I once got a student who was more than versed in violence ,he did not want to learn stance guard etc ,he wanted to get straight to the point ,let’s fight .
Every one present laughed ,but he most likely would have taken every body out .He wanted to get a further edge on stuff but was not ,capable of learning discipline ,control etc .in general he was a loose cannon ,and if memory serves me right I did not have the teaching skills to hold is attention ,while a change came about .
Most who come to learn I have noted ,would need a lot of backbone to take out the man mentioned .my point is the training must have some type of shugo first of all to reinforce back bone .
max ainleySpectatorOne real fight with the chips rolling against you ,but you emerge is worth thousands of lesson’s ,the teacher is at a serious disadvantage if no personal engagement with some level of violence .
I suppose that’s how a system would be put together early days ,to face up to violence ,and putting backbone into students within system’s .
max ainleySpectatorThis a problem in many respects for folk practicing a form of self defence ,dealing with levels of violence,so the training must involve somehow reality of violence .
I was was brought up by a extremely violent man ,someone who had faced violence on many levels, joined the army in 1937 skilled with the knife bayonet Bren gun ,rifle etc fought the japs in Burma ,gerrys in Europe etc.He did not deliberate become violent ,it came came down on him ,so he learned to deal with it .his idea was to become intensely violent to deal with violent folk .
max ainleySpectatorHi Brenna, the message says error network or server ,or unsupported format.
I am using a I pad 2 ,don’t fully know what a browser represents, hope that is of help to you . Maxmax ainleySpectatorHi Rick ,
It’s a new and different way ,but it’s better .from my perspective .And I can see innovations can be introduced at certain periods to enhance what ever message is needed for better communication,in general its different ,can you imagine if Kanbun had these technologies to pass on ,a lot of speculation would be eliminated .
So far things are more visual ,rather than intellectual, individual study material ,hopefully individual feedback will emerge .
Feedback is vital ,in say my class during a workout ,i more than not always ask for thoughts on the workout, series of workouts ,a teacher needs that element .max ainleySpectatorCan’t load it,thoughts
max ainleySpectatorVery informative Rick ,and executed ,could be a neglected part of many dojo work outs .
max ainleySpectatorGood thoughts Laird ,it is hard to articulate things ,but when we attempt ,i tend to re evaluate and learn yet again.
max ainleySpectatorI was taught by a master craftsman ,locally he had fantastic rep ,you did not get a certificate to say you were at master level ,the title was bequeathed on the craftsman by others in the know craftsman .
I have mentioned things of this nature before, you simply copy what you are shown ,and you might spend eight solid hrs just attending to this task ,there are lots of principles involved but they only dawn on awareness with time ,for me these teaching tactics parallel martial art modes of instruction at higher levels ,a vital ingredient to this cross thinking is the awakening of a internal characteristic (patience) with this realisation true learning really begins ,to go deeper into these matter could require books ,but little info was written on these matters ,and lots of practitioners would overlook these essentials.
Which in essence were the actual start to true mastery but they insisted upon rushing by .max ainleySpectatorWe can only teach what we know ,or our level .
Bad teaching is: for me regardless of principle is when things are completely and totally over the top of the student ,my point is; the student is not ready to take it onboard just at the moment ,similar is were too long a duration is attached to anything ,and the student appears to have stopped learning, obviously knowing just when to introduce a change into matters is a skill of each teacher this really sums up a specific teachers choice of approach ,another problem is flavours of the month ,that fade like a pop song .
In my craft i was drilled in a clean and tidy mortar board ,this as been a lasting practice in my life ,the secret is to drill it until it’s natural ,again the skill is seeing when it’s understood ,fully understood ,so to pass it on the practice must be enforced until it’s all part of daily flowing motions ,when this is seen it stands more chance of lasting ways instead of passing ways .
max ainleySpectatorI tend to now realise in approach one ,it is leading towards approach two ,my main fear was it would end up a mess ,but the links I have drilled over the months are taking effect in some ways .
As always we are dealing with the mind / body connections and the ability to drill ,but retain interest as we go .max ainleySpectatorTraining approach one; is more for new comers ,it’s a type of acclimatising period to what I offer ,and over the last year or so it’s been experimental for me ,in that after a year I had little idea how things would pan out,now looking back I can see that I can squeeze more essential time to Sanchin ,were in the beginning this was not even a possibility .
